Greetings and Welcome

Tonight I decided to begin this blog in support of learning activities at Weber State University. It is my thoughts that from here I can share information and encourage further contributions and collaborations between students. This blog is now open for discussion....

I wanted to post a general question out to the group. There are a few members of the class that are graduating in December. I wanted to know what the going rate for design graphic engineers is? I'm under the understanding that the architectural field pays the least and the engineering related fields pay the most. Any comments.

Here is one for reference-

Annual Salary Table (Effective 3/2/2007)
Level Minimum Market Reference High Market
1 $31000 $46000 $58000
2 $37000 $54000 $68000
3 $45000 $66000 $83000

With a level 2 being something similar to :

Prefer an associate's degree or equivalent certificate in an applicable engineering or manufacturing technology program such as mechanical, drafting, pre-engineering or manufacturing engineering and typically 3 or more years' related experience.

Or a level 3 being something similar to:

Typical Educ/Exper: AA degree in related discipline and 3 to 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Comments
Prefer an associate's degree or equivalent certificate in an applicable engineering or manufacturing technology program such as mechanical or electrical design, drafting, pre-engineering or manufacturing engineering and typically 5 years product design experience.

Take it from there?

I know talking to Larry about this major, and we know that it all depends with emphasis we want. Take Architecture vs. Engineering. The trend seems to say that Engineering pays better than Architecture does. If your in the Architectural field and your doing drafting, or minor project managing with a 4 year degree you'll be placed on the same level as someone who got there degree from a 2 year tech school. Thus you can't improve your odds of getting better pay. That's why Larry changed some of the aspects of the program; However with a minor in a related field to Architecture, and experience I believe you can get a pay that is around a Masters from Architectural School.
